Are you and your significant other a little bit rock n’ roll? Is your special song “Paint it Black?” Did you meet at a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert? We get it – Canon in D might not be the best option for your walk down the aisle.
Many couples think that their ceremony music has to follow a longstanding classical tradition. Maybe your great-aunt insists that the Wedding March is just “what you do.” But this is your day, and the playlist should be a reflection of you and your soon-to-be-spouse’s unique personalities.
The good news is that there IS a way to show off your awesome taste in music while keeping your conventional family member at bay: a string quartet!
Strings covering popular music are all the fad nowadays (maybe you’ve heard of a little group called the Vitamin String Quartet? 2Cellos? Piano Guys?). The reason is because string instruments can vary their tone to be lush and beautiful or slightly edgy. They have a good deal of flexibility when it comes to covering different genres since they can bow, pluck, strum, and create light percussive sounds. The best part is they can even take a rock song and make it sound classical (your great-aunt might not even notice Metallica playing during the processional).
